Thank you for agreeing to act as an examiner of a higher degree by research (HDR) candidate at The University of Queensland (UQ).
Examination process
This video guide explains the examination process and describes your obligations as an examiner.
Information in this guide is based on the policy document Framework for Best Practice in Doctoral Examination in Australia by the Council of Deans and Directors of Graduate Studies in Australia, and the Australian Qualifications Framework 2011.

Payment of examiners
We’re grateful for the significant contribution you make to the quality of our research and offer the payment of an honorarium.
Honorarium amounts are recommended by Universities Australia. You’ll be paid into the bank account you nominate when accepting our invitation.
Requesting payment
To receive an honorarium, indicate your preference when accepting your invitation to examine a candidate.
If you missed this step when accepting our invitation, or you have changed your mind and would like to be paid, email thesis@gradschool.uq.edu.au (include your candidate’s name and/or case ID if possible).
Receiving your payment
You’ll be paid 4 to 6 weeks after receipt of your written report or after receipt of the Chair’s report (if an oral examination is involved).
Payments to bank accounts outside Australia are made through Western Union and do not carry UQ identifiers.
Payment issues
If you haven’t been paid despite providing all the relevant information, email thesis@gradschool.uq.edu.au (include your candidate’s name and/or case ID if possible).
