Disability Inclusion Research and Innovation Plan

UQ's inaugural Disability Inclusion Research and Innovation Plan 2024-2026 champions the importance of disability inclusion research and researchers living with disability, within our research endeavour.

Our aim is for UQ to be a national and international leader in disability inclusion, delivering impactful research led by people with lived experience of disability. The plan was developed as a key action arising from both our Disability Action Plan 2023-2025 and our ‘Toward 2032’ Strategic Plan.

"By 2032, UQ will be known as a university that is values-led, deeply committed to delivering for the public good and supporting our people, leading reconciliation, and embracing different life experiences and perspectives."

Toward 2032: UQ Strategic Plan 2022–2025

To develop the plan, we consulted widely across UQ to centre the voices and experiences of staff and higher degree by research (HDR) students with lived experience of disability.

We aim to make the plan accessible to everyone. There are 3 versions of the plan, each of which addresses different accessibility needs.

Plan framework

The plan aligns with the structure of the UQ Research Roadmap, which aims to enhance our research leadership and impact across 4 research-centred domains.

The plan will deliver key actions across these domains by:

  • supporting researchers with lived experience of disability
  • increasing end-user engagement in disability research
  • forming research partnerships to support disability research
  • driving research excellence.
