Computation
QCIF Bioinformatics (formerly QFAB) supports the production of high-quality bioinformatics and biostatistics services for life science and health researchers.
The Research Computing Centre (RCC) provides coordinated management and support of The University of Queensland’s sustained and substantial investment in eResearch.
Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) provides access to leading edge data intensive infrastructure, tools, services and collections of high quality data to all Australian researchers.
In collaboration with our partners, the Australian Research Data Commons (ARDC) provides high capacity digital data storage for nationally significant collections, cloud computing, collection curation and data management resources, as well as national catalogue, identifier and vocabulary services.
Services
- Nectar Research Cloud is a federated service that provides Australia’s research community with fast, interactive, self-service access to computing infrastructure, software, and data. It provides a platform for cross-institutional collaboration and hosts virtual laboratories and platforms such as Galaxy Australia and Characterisation Virtual Laboratory.
- Research Data Australia is a portal where researchers can discover and publish national data collections, associated projects and other researchers. You can find, access, and reuse data for research from over 100 Australian research organisations, government agencies, and cultural institutions.
- Research Vocabularies Australia is a portal that makes it easy to find and use controlled vocabularies used in research.
- We provide services to create and manage persistent identifiers to support the identification, citation and tracking of research data, samples, software and projects.

Services
QCIF Bioinformatics provides bioinformatics and biostatistics services for life science and health researchers to integrate, analyse and manage large-scale ‘omics and clinical datasets.
Services range from experimental design, data capture and mining, through to genomics, proteomics and metabolomics analyses, and data visualisation. They are also experts in cross-domain integration of multiple data types, including linkage to clinical data.
Researchers and HDR students from UQ can access the QCIF Bioinformatics team’s skills through free “Member advice” and on-demand support or embedded bioinformaticians within their research teams at salary cost.
Request for QCIF Members advice can be submitted through the advice request form.
