The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research (UQCCR) is a purpose-built research facility on the campus of one of Australia’s largest hospitals, the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital (RBWH) in Herston, Brisbane. UQCCR offers state-of-the-art
facilities to bring together leading health professionals, clinicians and scientists from around the globe to facilitate innovation and knowledge translation.
The Clinical Trial Support Unit (CTSU) is a custom-built clinical research floor with dedicated multipurpose and specialty clinical rooms to suit a variety of different clinical research users. Located alongside the CTSU is the Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF), a facility available to give access to high quality imaging equipment and allows for the rapid translation of research into practice.
Patient and participant safety during the conduct of high-quality research is our priority and all research undertaken in the CTSU is conducted by experienced research teams in accordance with national and international guidelines for good clinical practice and is approved by a Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and local Governance Committee.
Since 2008 we have conducted clinical trials across a wide range of health conditions including neurological Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Alzheimer’s. Recent studies have expanded to infectious diseases and one study examining novel brain imaging techniques.
