Our wide range of equipment and facilities includes databases, laboratories, imaging and fabrication technology, microscopes and spectrometers.

Analytical and environmental

Analytical and environmental services cover various fields, including chemistry, engineering and microbiology.

Biological resources

Biological resources assist researchers in maintaining and evaluating animal controls, including providing local veterinary clinics with pathology services, genetic research for horses and glasshouse facilities.

Computation

Services include bioinformatics and biostatistics, cloud computing, digital data storage and management for significant collections, and support for research collaborations using advanced computation, data analysis and other digital research tools.

Crystallography

Our crystallography equipment and facilities enable researchers to make breakthrough discoveries, and include the state's only robotic sample storage and retrieval system.

Flow cytometry

Services include training, instrument operation, quality control, experimental design and analysis of analytical flow cytometry and fluorescence-activated cell sorting.

Genomics

Our facilities offer extraction, genotyping, sequencing and other genomics-related services.

Histology

We provide histology services across a range of facilities. Services include sample preparation and staining, as well as sectioning and processing.

Humanities and business

The Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law provide researchers with access to collections, databases and laboratory facilities.

Hypersonics

Our Centre for Hypersonics is the leading university-based hypersonics research group. Several tunnels are available for testing aerodynamic flow and other effects.

Imaging

Equipment includes whole-body scanners, NMR spectrometers and animal imaging. Mass spectrometry imaging is also available.

Mass spectrometry

We have mass spectrometry equipment for molecular discovery, identification, characterisation and quantification at several locations.

Materials and fabrication

We have an extensive range of manufacturing and testing facilities for various materials.

Microscopy

We offer a wide range of microscopy equipment and analytical instrumentation.

Microwave engineering and photonics

Our microwave engineering and photonics facilities cover the spectrum from low microwaves to terahertz.

Mining and minerals processing

From in-house services such as mineral sample analysis to providing field equipment, we can fulfil your mining and mineral processing needs.

Nanofabrication

Our nanofabrication facilities provide equipment, including state-of-the-art electron beam lithography systems and cleanrooms.

Nuclear magnetic resonance

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometry equipment is available at various facilities across UQ.

Recombinant products services

We host a range of facilities for recombinant products production and stem cell research that offer highly skilled specialists and equipment.

Research stations

Heron Island and Moreton Bay Research Stations are world-class research and teaching facilities that are an ideal base for ecological, marine and terrestrial research. Our facilities and equipment are available for research, conferences and educational groups.

Services

Spectroscopy

We offer spectroscopy equipment, including magnetic circular dichroism spectroscopy and photochemistry and ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
