UQ Foundation Research Excellence Awards
The UQ Foundation Research Excellence Awards (FREA) scheme is a means by which the University recognises demonstrated excellence and promise of future success in research. It also recognises the leadership potential of individual young researchers in their respective fields.
Excellence in Higher Degree by Research
The Awards for Excellence in Higher Degree Research: Supervision, Leadership and Industry Engagement provide an opportunity to publicly acknowledge and celebrate the achievements and initiatives of advisors and the key benefits they provide to UQ HDR candidates and the broader research community. In 2020, the awards expanded to include two new categories; Leadership and Industry Engagement. These new categories highlight the diversity of the research community and recognises those who have facilitated greater collaboration with industry and acknowledge academics who continue to demonstrate leadership in research training and effective and inspirational graduate leadership.

UQ Corporate Philanthropy Award
The inaugural UQ Corporate Philanthropy Award recognises and celebrates the corporate citizenship of those who continue to have an extraordinary impact on research and innovation at UQ. Without the generous support from our industry partners, much of our research would go unfunded and many aspiring students would not be able to fulfil their tertiary education goals.
UniQuest Commercialisation Impact Award
The UniQuest Commercialisation Impact Award recognises the achievements and commitment of UQ researchers who have created impact through the commercialisation of intellectual property from UQ research, building on the University’s reputation as a leader in this space. The Award also recognises the respective industry partners who help to bring UQ research to the world.
