This is the first of our fortnightly updates to keep you informed of progress of the HDR Candidature Management project for UQ. Each update will include information on business improvements, work underway, development work about to start, and reference guides. We will also include items for feedback from you that are about to be considered.

Background & current context
Stage 1 of the project was released on 31 January 2017. This release enabled HDR candidates to apply for leave, notify return from leave, request attainment of milestone and extension of milestone as online requests in my.UQ. Other candidature requests are lodged in my.UQ as attached PDF documents. Candidates can track the progress and status of these requests. They can also view a brief summary of their candidature to date.
All requests are lodged via a worklist in the Graduate School. Requests are checked for completeness and accordance with policy and allocated to the next decision maker (Principal Advisor/PGC) to record endorsement. Requests then come back to the Grad School to be finalised.
Advisors and PGCs receive notifications of tasks to approve via email. These can also be accessed via a worklist (by logging on via UniTask).
Simple reports can be run, from real time data, to view requests logged by each unit. The information is basic at this stage and development is underway to expand these reports.
Business process change/process improvements
With the advent of a new way to manage requests for changes to candidature and treating each change as an individual request comes the opportunity to review the levels of approval required for candidature requests. We would like your feedback on the proposed approvals to the candidature requests listed here.
