Higher Degree by Research Candidate Management System (HDR CMS)

About HDR CMS

The HDR CMS project is developing UQ’s current systems to enable HDR candidates and their advisors to make self-service requests and undertake real-time monitoring of their candidature. The HDR CMS is an online system that gives HDR candidates and their advisors direct access to key candidature information and the ability to apply for, update, and track candidature-related requests online.

The online workflows facilitate more efficient and effective processing, recording and reporting of candidature information and status, giving students and advisors greater control of their candidature.

The HDR CMS is designed to enhance the HDR student experience and reduce inefficiencies and administrative burdens through my.UQ. This involves the creation of an online one-stop shop for HDR candidates.

The benefits of HDR CMS

Every year, HDR candidates collectively complete tens of thousands of requests. By moving these processes online, UQ has:

  • streamlined submission and approval processes for advisors and candidates,
  • significantly reduced the number of paper forms requiring printing, processing and filing across the University (up to 30,000 annually),
  • improved monitoring, governance and reporting of candidature management processes,
  • streamlined administrative processes for candidates and staff, and
  • enhanced information and support for candidates and advisors.
