Australian Renewable Energy Agency
Key dates for Australian Renewable Energy Agency
Advancing Renewables Program
- The Advancing Renewables Program (ARP) is continuously open for applications that address ARENA's Investment Priorities. Check the ARENA website for further details. Specific opportunities are also occasionally announced on the website.
German-Australian Hydrogen Innovation and Technology Incubator (Hygate)
HyGATE is one of the three major initiatives developed as part of the Declaration of Intent between the Government of Australia and the Government of Germany on the Australia-Germany Hydrogen Accord. HyGATE is intended to support real-world pilot, trial, and demonstration projects along the hydrogen supply chain.
The Round will provide funding to projects that will deliver one or more of the following outcomes:
- Demonstration of highly innovative technology across the value chain of renewable hydrogen, supporting the technical viability of renewable hydrogen
- Reduction of the cost of hydrogen production, transport, storage, and use, supporting the commercial viability of renewable hydrogen
- Development of an Australian-German supply-chain for renewable hydrogen
- Encourage cross country collaboration and knowledge sharing between Australian and German organisations, including the establishment of cross-country partnerships related to the project activities
- Provide price discovery and transparency in relation to the current and projected economics for renewable hydrogen technologies.
Projects that have direct and substantial involvement of both German and Australian organisations will generally be viewed as being able to better deliver the Round Key Objectives. Project activities are expected to occur primarily in Australia.
Expressions of Interest close 3 May 2022. Click here for details.
Research and Development Program
- Specific opportunities are occasionally announced. Check the ARENA website for further details.
Overview
ARENA funds projects that advance renewable energy technologies at all stages of the innovation chain, up to pre-commercial development. Research funding can be sought under two programs: Research and Development, and Advancing Renewables.
The Research and Development Program supports groundbreaking projects that will increase the use of renewable energy technologies in Australia by making them competitive with conventional energy sources. There is one round per year, typically in the range of $500,000 - $5 million per grant, with the priorities changing each round. An Expression of Interest must be submitted to ARENA with full applications then invited for submission.
The Advancing Renewables Program supports a broad range of development, demonstration and pre-commercial deployment projects that can deliver affordable and reliable renewable energy. This fund is continuously open to applications for all activities identified in the ARENA Investment Plan, except the identified competitive rounds.
How to apply
Further information on how to apply will be made available once a competitive round is opened.
