Overview

The Linkage Infrastructure, Equipment and Facilities (LIEF) scheme fosters collaboration through its support of the cooperative use of international and national research facilities.

Researchers are able to participate in cooperative initiatives so that expensive infrastructure, equipment and facilities can be shared between higher education organisations and also with industry.

How to apply

Expressions of Interest

UQ will conduct a mandatory internal Expression of Interest (EOI) process for both UQ lead and non-lead proposals. Given the competitive nature of the scheme and the need for institutional cash contributions, UQ will submit a high-quality field of applications to the ARC based on recommendations from the Faculties/Institutes.

Noting that Faculties and Institutes set their own deadlines for EOIs, applicants are responsible for ensuring that the EOI is submitted to each relevant Faculty/Institute by the relevant deadline, prior to lodgement with UQ R&I. UQ Central cash commitments to EOIs will be advised by UQ R&I as soon as possible thereafter.

Following the EOI process, endorsed UQ lead LIEF teams prepare a full proposal, as follows:

Step 1. RMS updates and scheme reading

  • Update your full profile in RMS ‘Person Profile’. If any team members are new to RMS and need a login/password, start early.
  • Familiarise yourself with the key ARC and UQ documentation.

Step 2. Completing the application

Step 3. UQR&I internal review and feedback

  • Ahead of internal review, ensure all online components are complete and validated, generate a whole-of-application PDF for your records, and select 'Submit to Research Office' in RMS to submit the application.
  • To initiate review, email your completed LE21 Application Coversheet (DOCX, 47.1 KB) to UQ R&I at rifgrants@research.uq.edu.au
  • If lodging a Request Not to Assess, email your completed form to UQ R&I by the internal closing date.
  • Also provide completed UQ Certification Proformas.
  • Internal review by UQ R&I/feedback provided (compliance/eligibility/grantsmanship).
