Integrated Data Management Planning

Business Transformation Project

Business owner: Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research); University Librarian

Phase: Implementation

Purpose: Provide a curated research data storage system at UQ

The integrated Data Management Planning (iDMP) project will deliver a system that allocates data storage for UQ-led projects via a minimal iDMP. This storage will be accessible to all collaborators identified on the project plan both within UQ and nationally via integration with the Australian Access Federation (AAF). Project data storage is made available via multiple methods to make it easy to access data no matter where you are. Data will be mounted to local file systems on a single drive share across the whole of UQ, on HPC and cloud computing resources within QCIF and via a local NextCloud instance for use on mobile devices such as laptops and tablets

The iDMP system will allow for compliance with the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and the UQ Research Data Management Policy.

Where possible, the system has been and will continue to be integrated with existing UQ infrastructure, to allow for minimal administrative burden. The system will make it easy to archive research data and link it to resulting publications. The iDMP system is designed to make collaboration easy, both nationally and internationally. It makes use of persistent identifiers (PID's) including ORCID, GRiD and RAiD where practical such that provenance data can be maintained long term.
