Partners in Research Excellence Awards (PIREAs)

The UQ Partners in Research Excellence Awards (PIREAs) recognise outstanding models of high-impact collaborative research partnerships.  These Awards celebrate the achievements and successes of UQ Researchers who through industry engagement, research collaboration and commercialisation have achieved excellent outcomes and national and international research impact.

The PIREAs also recognise industry and entities (corporate, government agencies and not-for-profit leaders) who have chosen to partner with UQ Researchers to achieve a common goal of commercial success and the translation of excellent discovery into great outcomes.  These successes and outcomes not only benefit their organisations and stakeholders but will also benefit society and improve lives.

Nominations should be made using the PIREA ON-LINE NOMINATION FORM.

In 2019, there will be six awards categories:

  • Leading Healthy Lives
  • Growing the Bioeconomy
  • Achieving Resilient Environments and Livelihoods
  • Designing Technology for Tomorrow
  • Transforming Societies
  • Indigenous partnerships/engagement in research at UQ

We will accept multiple nominations from Faculties/Institutes to encourage nominations.  All nominations will be assessed by a Selection Panel and its recommendations sent to the VC for approval.

The winner of each category will receive $5,000 to help facilitate their ongoing relationship and they will be invited, together with their industry partner, to receive their award at the 2019 UQ Research Awards Night on Tuesday, 17 September.

Nominations closed on Tuesday, 7 May 2019.  Outcomes will be under embargo until September 2019.
