Subject: Transformation of HDR and Research Publications Administration at UQ

________________________________________________________________________________

I am writing to notify you that following referral by the Professional Staff Consultative Committee, the Formal Proposal for Transformation of HDR and Research Publications Administration at UQ has been approved by the Chief Operating Officer. Implementation of changes to HDR Administration and Publications Administration will begin over the coming weeks.

I appreciate the time and effort that has gone into the feedback provided during the consultation and consideration periods and I would also like to again acknowledge the commitment, dedication and professionalism of all staff who currently administer HDR programs, research publications and sponsored research. These changes are a reflection that the University has recognised the need to transform the way research is supported and administered at the enterprise level to ensure we have the processes, the systems and the workforce in place to respond to the contemporary expectations for research administration now, and into the future.  Professional HDR and Research Publications administration staff, working in tandem with our dedicated academics and researchers will remain a key part of the success of these endeavours.

Directly affected eligible staff members will receive formal advice shortly, advising of their options, as well as information and resources to support staff through this process. In addition, I will be available, along with other senior staff to discuss the proposals in more detail with individual employees (please email transformation@research.uq.edu.au to make an appointment).

In order to maximise opportunities for impacted staff a change to the closed recruitment process has been introduced, specifically four (4) HDR Administration Officers (HEW 5) positions will be advertised to eligible affected staff in the first instance. These positions for closed recruitment are additional to those already outlined for closed recruitment in the Formal Proposal.

I acknowledge that this process is creating uncertainty and that change is difficult. We are committed to supporting affected staff throughout the change process and encourage you to review the information, FAQs and training sessions on the website. Further information is available on the Transformation of HDR and Research Publications website.

Kind regards
Robyn
