Overview
The Advance Queensland Women’s Academic Fund (AQWAF) supports the academic careers of women in research in three ways: assisting with the hiring of a research assistant to maintain research progress while the primary researcher is on maternity leave, or to assist the primary researcher following their return to work; funding out-of-pocket child care or respite care costs incurred while the researcher is presenting at a conference or sitting on a professional research committee; and, funding costs of delivering lectures or presentations highlighting the work of leading Queensland-based female researchers.
How to apply
Women’s Lecture Submissions: the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) is coordinating the Women’s Lecture submissions on behalf of UQ. Contact UQR&I if you are interested in applying.
Step 1: BusinessPortal registration and scheme reading
- The person submitting the application - preferably the project leader - will need an active account in DSITI’s BusinessPortal online application system.
- Familiarise yourself with the key AQ and UQ documentation.
Step 2: Completing the application
- Log into BusinessPortal and complete the application, but leave the final Declaration/Certification pages blank (to prevent the draft from being submitted to DSITI without UQ authorisation).
Step 3: UQR&I internal review and feedback
- In advance of internal review, ensure all online components are complete and valid. Generate a whole Proposal PDF for your records.
- To initiate internal review, email your BusinessPortal application log in details, your completed Funding Coversheet, and draft attachments to UQR&I at qldgovtschemes@research.uq.edu.au.
- Internal review by UQR&I/feedback provided (compliance/eligibility/grantsmanship).
Step 4: Final submission
- On receiving authorisation from UQR&I, submit your application online.
