As part of the ongoing commitment to improving research management at UQ, the Research Management Business Transformation Program (RMBT) is progressively digitizing a range of forms and processes to streamline research management and administration.
Open Researcher and Contributor Identifier (ORCID) provides a free, and easy to obtain, persistent digital identifier that uniquely distinguishes researchers and supports automated linkages between researchers and their professional activities, ensuring that their research and publications are identified, recognized and protected.
As the RMBT Program implements new systems to strengthen the administration of research management, ethics approvals, data and publication management, unique identifiers such as ORCID will become vital to supporting integration, connectivity and access for researchers, as well as improving the efficiency and effectiveness of organisational reporting and governance.
Congratulations to Mr. Justin Nicholls who commenced in the role of ORCID Project Manager on 17 July. Justin brings with him significant experience in UQ research administration and support, most recently as Advisor - Research Management with the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Mr. Nicholls will have responsibility for developing policy and procedure recommendations, including system integrations and workflow solutions, and will coordinate an advocacy and outreach program to promote ORCID uptake across UQ.
