The Boosting Dementia Research Leadership Fellowships scheme aims to expand leadership in dementia research by supporting mid-career researchers’ transition into leadership positions. Fellows participate in National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) National Institute for Dementia Research (NNIDR) activities to expand capacity for dementia research and encourage the translation of research outcomes by bridging gaps between research and industry.

How to apply

Step 1. RGMS updates and scheme reading

  • Update your full profile RGMS 'My Profile and CV'. If any team members are new to RGMS and need a login/password, start early.
  • Familiarise yourself with the key NHMRC and UQ documentation.

Step 2. Completing the application

Step 3. UQR&I internal review and feedback

  • Ahead of internal review, ensure all online components are complete/valid and generate your proposal snapshots in RGMS (refer RGMS User Guide - Applying for Grants)
  • To initiate internal review, email your completed Funding Coversheet to UQR&I at
  • Also provide completed UQ Certification Proforma.
  • Internal review by UQR&I/feedback provided (compliance/eligibility/grantsmanship).

Step 4. Final submission

  • Final submission by UQR&I to NHMRC.
