The UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Strategy will seek to:
  • Aim 1:   Develop across the University community an understanding and awareness of best-practice engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals, communities and organisations when partnering with UQ in research.
  • Aim 2:   Promote the AIATSIS Code of Ethics, alongside the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research (2018), the NHMRC Ethical conduct in research with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and communities guidelines (2018) and other geographically relevant authorities  as mandatory guides for informed research practices in research endeavours with and about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for the meaningful engagement and reciprocity between the researcher and the individuals and/or communities involved in the research.
  • Aim 3:   Foster research and research training opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, early career researchers, and research leaders at UQ in a supportive UQ research environment.
  • Aim 4:   Build research capacity on Indigenous issues by both indigenous and non-indigenous researchers that delivers positive outcomes for Indigenous peoples.
